Our Chalky Furniture Paint transforms furniture, doors & cupboards. And unlike other chalk paints it protects them too. So there’s no need to overcoat it with wax. You still get the chalky, flat matt finish that looks great. But it’s tough, so it’ll look its best for longer.

Before You Start

Make sure your room is above 10°C. Open your doors and windows for ventilation. Put down dust sheets to cover anything you don’t want to get paint on.

Prep - Bare Wood

Lightly sand your wood to give it an even finish and help your paint stick. Use 120grit sandpaper and sand in the direction of the woodgrain. Remember to wear a face mask. When the dust has settled, give the area a quick vacuum and wipe your wood with white spirit.

Prep - Previously Painted Wood

If your old paint or varnish is in good condition just give it a light sand with 240grit sandpaper. This will help your paint stick. If your paint is flaking or cracked you’ll need to sand it back to bare wood. The easiest way to do this is with an electric sander. Use 120grit sandpaper and sand in the direction of the woodgrain. It creates a lot of dust, so make sure you wear a face mask. When the dust has settled, give the area a quick vacuum and wipe your wood with white spirit. (Be careful preparing any wood that was painted before 1960, as they may be coated with lead paint. For more info give our Technical Services Team a call on 0114 240 9469).

Using our Chalky Furniture Paint

Give the paint a really good stir. Then put it on with a synthetic brush. Go in the direction of the woodgrain. You’ll need to put on 2 coats. Leave 4 hours between each coat. Your last coat will be touch try in 30 minutes. And that’s it, job done.

Usage Areas: All smooth indoor wood.
Compatibility: New or previously painted wood.
Clean Up: Clean all brushes using warm, soapy water.
