At Earlswood, we’re always looking for products that genuinely make gardening easier — the kind of reliable essentials that help plants settle faster, root better, and grow stronger.
That’s why we’re excited to introduce Multi-Purpose Compost (50L) developed by our sister company, Caragh Nurseries, professional growers who raise trees, shrubs and plants every day, and who have refined this compost through hands-on trials and testing.
Why This Compost is Different
This isn’t a generic “one-size-fits-all” mix. It’s designed to deliver consistent performance across a wide range of plants, especially in pots and containers where moisture and nutrition matter most. It contains a balanced fertiliser blend providing Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium, plus key micro-nutrients including Magnesium, Calcium, Manganese, Iron and Zinc.
To support strong root development and nutrient availability, it also includes Humic and Fulvic Acids, and the pH is adjusted to optimise nutrient uptake.
Better moisture management (less guesswork)
Gardening gets a lot easier when compost holds moisture evenly.
This mix includes:
• A wetting agent to help water distribute evenly
• A water-retaining granule to help store moisture at the roots
• Natural seaweed extract to support healthy growth through the season
A Straightforward Note on Peat
We know many UK gardeners are looking for peat-free options, and we stock them too. This particular compost uses screened and blended Irish sphagnum peat, sourced from responsibly managed peatlands in Ireland. Caragh Nurseries has tested alternatives extensively, and this blend is the one they use themselves because it delivers the structure and water retention growers depend on for consistent results.
What To Use it For
Ideal for:
• Pots, containers and hanging baskets
• Beds and borders
• General planting
Not suitable for ericaceous (lime-hating) plants. Water regularly and avoid letting compost dry out completely.
