Miscanthus is a deciduous, clump-forming, perennial grass. It has upright or arching bluish-green leaves with pale yellowish horizontal bands across them. Maroon-purple leaves appear in autumn complementing the rest of the plant, which turns a russet colour. Plants look good either as specimen plants or planted in groups in herbaceous borders.
